Head of State Visit to Canterbury to Attend Remembrance Service for Mass Shooting from 28th to 30th March 2019

The terrorist attack in Christchurch on Friday 15 March 2019 left dozens dead and many seriously injured.

A National Remembrance Service was held at Hagley Park, Christchurch, on Friday 29th March 2019 at 10am to remember and honour those who lost their lives in the tragic events.

This was a nationwide event, where communities across New Zealand joined together to reflect, honour and mourn as one. Events were arranged in Auckland, Wellington, Dunedin and other regions using live coverage of the Christchurch Service. People across the country were encouraged to attend one of the official services or to watch the live coverage.

Dignitaries and Heads of Government attended the National Remembrance Service event held at Hagley Park, Christchurch. His Highness Tuimalealiifano Va’aletoa Sualauvi II, Head of State of Samoa together with Her Highness Faamausili Leinafo Tuimalealiifano, Samoa High Commissioner H.E Leasi Papali’i T Scanlan, Private Secretary Mr Mareko Tulouna and Police Escort Senior Constable Iosefo Tuimaunei attended the event on Friday 29th March 2019.
