Pacific Conference on Governance “Pacific Youth Spotlighting Anti-Corruption in Climate Change and Gender Equality”

The University of the South Pacific through The University of the South Pacific Students' Association and collaboration with United Nations Development Programme - UNDP, New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and UK Aid hosted a two day Pacific conference with the theme on "Pacific Youth Spotlighting Anti-Corruption in Climate Change and Gender Equality" in Auckland from 11th -12th May 2023. The conference was opened with remarks from the New Zealand Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Hon. Nanaia Mahuta, Secretary General of the Pacific Island Forum Secretariat, H.E. Henry Puna and Pacific Youth Advisory Board, Ms. Belyndar Rikimani. Later, discussions convened on topics such as good governance and climate action in which challenges and opportunities were highlighted with the Blue Pacific 2050 strategy. The Acting High Commissioner, Mr. Robert Niko Aiono was invited in a later panel session in which he shared on Samoa's nation wide sectoral approach in implementing sustainable development goals such as gender equality, climate action and good governance through the sustainable development of Samoa strategy
