Samoa Community Welcomes Manu Samoa 7s 2015

The Samoa High Commission in collaboration with the Mafutaga a Faifeau Ueiligitone hosted the Manu Samoa 7s at a dinner reception at the EFKS Cannons Creek church hall in Porirua. The reception was well attended by over 400 people from the Samoan Community. This is the third time the High Commission has hosted the Manu Samoa 7s in Wellington with the aim of bringing the Samoan community together and to support our National 7s Team. Special guests of the event included the Minister for Pacific Peoples, Peseta Sam Lotu-Iiga, Mayor for Porirua, Nick Leggat, current Miss Samoa and Miss South Pacific Latafale Auva'a, President for the Wellington Samoa Rugby Union, Fauono Ken Ah Kuoi and Chairman of the Ulalei Rugby Club, Masunu Talapusi. High Commissioner Leasi gave the key note address of the night and spoke about the importance of the support by elders and church ministers of the our 7s Team. Minister Peseta spoke briefly and welcomed the boys in blue while guest speaker Seven's rugby legend Uale Ma'i spoke fondly of this time as a Manu Samoa player and he was familiar with the high expectations of being a Samoan. The night ended with the gifting of each player $500 and management with $600 each.
