Samoa High Commissioner-designate pay courtesy call to the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps

On Monday 7th August 2023, the High Commissioner-designate of the Independent State of Samoa, H.E. Afamasaga Faamatalaupu Toleafoa paid a courtesy call on the Ambassador of the State of Kuwait and Dean of Diplomatic Corps, H.E. Mr Ahmad Salem Alwehaib. Ambassador Alwehaib warmly welcomed the High Commissioner-designate and congratulated him on the appointment. The Dean provided a brief overview of the Diplomatic Corps events and the importance of the network relations with the Government of New Zealand. Afamasaga thanked the Dean for warmly receiving him and shared briefly on his experiences as the Ambassador of Samoa to the EU in the late 70s. Afamasaga and the Dean shared views on the Kuwait Fund and its role in development and disaster relief in humanitarian aid in developing countries. The Dean conveyed his best wishes to Afamasaga as he prepared to present his credentials to the New Zealand Governor General tomorrow morning.
Ambassador Alwehaib assumed the role of Dean of Diplomatic Corps after former Samoa High Commissioner, H.E. Leasi Papali’i Scanlan in September 2022.
