A first year scholarship student studying at Victoria Univeristy was invited to attend an event hosted by the New Zealand Governor General to mark Matariki, the Māori New Year. Ms Epifania Afano, who last year was awared the inaugural New Zealand Pacific Scholarship Academic Achievement Award was one of two Bachelor of Commerce students selected to attend the event. Third year Victoria University Law Student, Ms Nafanua Schmidt also attended the prestigous event hosted by the Governor General, His Excellency The Right Honourable Sir Jerry Mateparae. It was an important milestone for the two Samoan scholarship students attending the event which celebrated the important role of New Zealand Women.
