Encouragement from the Samoa High Commissioner for the Samoan Community during COVID-19 Pandemic
2nd September 2021
On 2nd September 2021, the Samoa Capital Radio invited the Samoa High Commissioner, H.E. Leasi Papali'i Scanlan, to convey words of encouragement to the Samoan community throughout New Zealand as regards COVID-19. The High Commissioner encouraged the community to get their COVID-19 vaccines done in order to protect, not only themselves but their children and their families. Leasi reminded of the struggle Samoa had to go through during the measles epidemic in 2019. If it was not for the positive response to the Government's vaccination program, there would have been many more lives lost from the measles. The High Commissioner acknowledged with much appreciation the hard work of many members of the Samoan Community involved in helping vaccinate our people to protect them from COVID-19. His Excellency also acknowledged the good work carried out by the Samoa Capital Radio in constantly reminding people of the dangers of COVID-19 and the need to get their vaccines done.
