75th Anniversary of the end of WWII in the Pacific

On Saturday 15 August 2020, a short Service was held at the Pukeahu National War Memorial Park to mark the 75th Anniversary of the end of WWII in the Pacific.
About 12,000 New Zealanders were believed to have lost their lives during the Second World War. This number included many soldiers from the Pacific Islands who fought alongside their Kiwi brothers. Her Excellency Dame Patsy Reddy and Sir David Gascoigne led the Official Group which also included the Prime Minister (Rt. Hon Jacinda Ardern), Leader of the Opposition (Hon Judith Collins), the Minister of Defence (Hon Ron Mark), the Chief of Defence (Air Marshall Kevin Short) and the Samoa High Commissioner & Dean of the Diplomatic (HE Leasi Papali'i Scanlan).
