Deputy Prime Minister of Samoa, Hon. Fiame Naomi Mata’afa visited New Zealand

The Deputy Prime Minister of Samoa, Hon. Fiame Naomi Mataafa visited New Zealand from 4th to 13th May 2019.
In Wellington, the Deputy Prime Minister held meetings with the Deputy Prime Minister & Foreign Affairs Minister of New Zealand Rt Hon. Winston Peters, Minister for Climate Change Hon. James Shaw, Minister for Women Hon. Julie Anne Genter, Minister of Pacific People Hon Aupito William Sio and Minister of Civil Defence Hon. Kris Faafoi and the members of the Pacific Caucus.
At the conclusion of these meetings, the Deputy Prime Minister then departed Wellington on 8th May for New Plymouth, where she spoke at the ‘Just Transition Summit on Climate Change’ held from the 9th to 10th May 2019. In attendance was the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Rt Hon Jacinda Ardern who delivered the keynote address. For the Pacific Session, both the Deputy Prime Minister of Samoa, Hon. Fiame Naomi Mataafa and the Prime Minister of Cook Islands, Hon. Henry Puna delivered statements as Pacific Island nations that are already experiencing the impact of climate change as well as insights into how Samoa and the Cook Islands are responding to this challenge.
