High Level Bilateral Meeting between New Zealand and Samoa

Samoa-New Zealand High Level Consultation and Dialogue were held in Wellington from the 31st January to 1st February 2019. Samoa’s Delegation was led by the Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade, Ms Peseta Noumea Simi accompanied by the Chief Executive Officers of the Ministry of the Prime Minister & Cabinet, Agafili Shem Leo, the Ministry of Finance, Leasiosio Oscar Malielegaoi and the Assistant Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade (Bilateral Division), Ms Sharon Potoi-Aiafi.
The Samoa High Commissioner, H.E Leasi Papali’i T Scanlan accompanied by the Counsellor, Ms Belinda Filo-Tafunai attended as part of the delegation. Key issues discussed with the relevant New Zealand Ministries/Departments included;- Immigration, Global & Regional Priorities, Security, Pacific Reset, Bilateral Relations, Development Budget.
At the conclusion of the high level talks, a Bilateral Partnership Agreement between New Zealand and Samoa was finalized for the Foreign Ministers of the two countries to co-sign at Waitangi in February 2019.
