Samoa language week 25 – 29 May 2015

6th July 2015
High Commissioner Leasi Papalii T Scanlan this year opened Samoan Language Week during a church ceremony in Wellington on Sunday 24th May 2015. H.E Scanlan then traveled to Palmerston North on Monday to officially open Samoa Language week at Massey University and do the same here at Victoria University on the same day. The third most spoken language in New Zealand, the Samoan language has been celebrated each year with its very own language week since 2007. The theme for 2015 was ‘Tautua nei mo sou taeao manuia’ – ‘Serve now for a better tomorrow’. It emphasizes the importance of our Samoan values of service and hard work pays off. The High Commissioner also attended other activities in celebration of Samoa Language Week at several schools in Wellington.
