Annual Scholarship Lunch with Students
13th March 2015
The Samoa High Commission hosted a luncheon for the Victoria University Samoan scholarship students last Saturday 7 March 2015. The function was well attended by the seven first years and the on going second and third year students. High Commissioner Leasi and Joyce Scanlan welcomed the students. He encouraged them to make the most of their studies and the support services available at the University. Leasi also mentioned the support of the office that it was readily available to assist them in any way possible. He encouraged the students to complete their studies and return the investment back to Samoa either through the public or private sector. A higher education would also mean assisting with their families in Samoa. The High Commission was also pleased to have the doctorate students Ms Foilagi Faamau, Ms Louise Mataia-Milo and Ms Niusila Eteuati attend the luncheon. Dr Helena Cook, NZAID Coordinator at Victoria University also attended the lunch and spoke about the high caliber of students from Samoa and doing extremely well at the University and she was expecting the same results with the first year students. There are 12 students expected to finish and graduate at the end of the year.
