On Friday 10th February 2023, the Prime Minister of the Independent State of Samoa, Hon. Fiame Naomi Mataafa in discussion with Cabinet announced the appointments of the following diplomatic posts in New Zealand: Afioga Afamasaga Fa'amatala Toleafoa as Samoa High Commissioner in Wellington; Hon. Afemata Palusalue Fa'apo II as Samoa Consul General in Auckland; and Va'atuitui Apete Meredith as the Trade Commissioner in Auckland.
Afioga Afamasaga Fa'amatala Toleafoa is a former diplomat and has served in posts in Auckland (1984) and Belgium (1989-1997) as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Samoa.
