Meeting between the Minister of Pacific Peoples, Hon. Aupito William Sio and the Pacific Islands Heads of Missions

A meeting between the Minister of Pacific Peoples, Hon. Aupito William Sio and the Pacific Islands Heads of Missions was held at Bowen House, Parliament Building on 26th July 2018. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss pertinent issues in regards to the Recognized Seasonal Employment Scheme, Trades Pilot Program, Climate Change, Pacific Reset.
In attendance were the High Commissioner and/or their representatives from the Cook Islands, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands and Tuvalu with Niue conveying their apologies.
The Samoa High Commissioner and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, H.E Leasi Papali’i T Scanlan attended the meeting accompanied by the Counsellor, Ms Belinda Filo-Tafunai.
Overall, the Minister of Pacific Peoples, Hon. Aupito William Sio acknowledged the issues raised by the countries through their respective Missions in New Zealand and agreed that the NZ Government is here to listen to the Pacific countries and to be guided by the countries based on areas of priority.
